Dark roasty bitterness with rich maltiness. Notes of toasted bread, burnt sugar, and dried fruit. First Crack is a melanoidin style malt perfect for red ales, Scottish ales, bocks, and kellerbier recipes. It has a high degree of protein and starch modification, excellent friability, and high acidity. First Crack adds a deep amber to red-brown color to finished beer. It is also an excellent flavor addition in small quantities for spirits and savory culinary applications.
